“In the Rebbe’s Words”
The usual farbrengen on leil Chof Kislev this year should have been with extra vigour… Even though in such a kvius the Rebbeim would make the farbrengen on (Thursday) leil Yud Tes Kislev… Nonetheless the hope was that for sure the Chassidim would arrange a farbrengen (amongst themselves) also on leil Chof Kislev as in every year.
And so after such a shturemdike Kabbolas Shabbos the Chassidim should have held a shturemdike farbrengen as fitting for Chof Kislev farbrengen and even more so this year (when it coincides with Shabbos).
Unfortunately this did not happen. Instead of making a farbrengen, everyone went home for Seudas Shabbos! Fish, soup, fatty meat and all sorts of delicacies, after having good aged wine for Kiddush is certainly very special. This is the Mitzvah of Oneg Shabbos and should be conducted every Shabbos. However on Shabbos - Chof Kislev it is proper for Chassidim to have a farbrengen! Not to run home for Seudas Shabbos.
It is possible that there was a farbrengen some place but apparently it was a quiet one that no one knew about… Even if there was a farbrengen, Crown Heights did not make a Shturem!
I know for some people such talk doesn’t fit with them, but I cannot help them… The situation is so astounding I am forced to speak about it! I just hope that it does not cause sadness ח"ו.
I could speak at length but it is preferable to speak favourably about Jews… The reason I am speaking about this at the beginning of the farbrengen is because I cannot hold back due to the great pain of the matter.
What is the point speaking about it now since it has already past?
Firstly it is necessary to inform that this conduct is the opposite of my ratzon!... If I don’t speak about the matter, there are those who will think that the reason the Chassdim did not farbreng leil Chof Kislev is because there was a horaa ח"ו not to farbreng... Therefore I must make a big deal to inform the public that not only was there no horaa… on the contrary, such conduct goes against my ratzon!
This is not just a protest to “save myself” but rather the main kavanah is that this should not ח"ו happen again in the future!
